If you haven’t been to the Miniature Milwaukee train show at the Milwaukee Co. Mitchell Park Domes, you’re missing out! This has been on my to-do list for weeks now and we finally made it. The Miniature Milwaukee train show is an annual garden train show that is fun for the whole family. The show has small trains that criss-crosses hundreds of feet of track through the miniaturized Milwaukee landscape.
Throughout the garden you’ll find all of your favorite Milwaukee landmarks, including some of the obvious one (i.e. Miller Park, the Public Market or the Hoan Bridge), but also some fun not-so-obvious ones (i.e. the Lion Bridge, War Memorial or Leon’s Frozen Custard). It’s a ton of fun to hunt for all of the favorite places!
You’ll also find little signs for each of the neighborhoods around the City. It’s a fun little activity with the kids to go on a hunt for your local city’s sign. We found Wauwatosa!
Part of the fun of the Show Dome is that the flowers and plants are always coordinated with the theme of the show. Be on the lookout for touches of blue, green and gold to celebrate the Brewers and Packers.
If you plan to visit on a Saturday, make sure you plan ahead for a little extra time to check out the Milwaukee Winter Farmer’s Market. The Winter Farmers Market is held in the greenhouse behind the Domes every Saturday now through March 30th. If you’re not sure what the farmer’s market is all about, check out my blog post from last year! The market is the perfect place to grab breakfast or lunch before you head into the domes.
