Woo-hoo, it’s May – our official, unofficial start to summer! That means we’re kicking off beer garden season, the pools are starting to open, our park adventures are a daily routine and our calendars are already starting to fill like crazy! I am certain that my May top 5 activities is sure to have something for everyone this month.

May Top Five Activities for Kids

Milwaukee Maifest | Website
When: Thursday, May 2nd, 5:30PM
Where: Estabrook Park Beer Garden
What: The official kick-off to Beer Garden Season with Milwaukee Maifest at Estabrook Park.
Festivities get underway at 5:30pm with the 2019 Maibock Anstich, followed by free beer until 6:30pm
The weekend activities includes live music, food, fance, contests and beer!

Adventure Africa Grand Opening | Website
When: Saturday, May 4th
Where: Milwaukee Co. Zoo
What: The big reveal of Adventure Africa at the Milwaukee Co. Zoo. Gather at Sundowner Plaza at 10am for opening remarks and ribbon cutting. Meet an elephant Zookeeper at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
Admission/Tickets: Free with zoo entrance


Mother’s Day Parent + Child Yoga Class | Website
When: Sunday, May 12th, 8:30AM
Where: lululemon Third Ward
What: Complimentary parent and child partner yoga class led by Robyn Lucks of Healium Hot yoga in honor of Mother’s Day. Class will be outside on the rooftop of the Mercantile Building in the Third Ward. Class will be held in store if temperature is below 62 degrees or the roof top is too windy or rain.
Join in-store after class for refreshments and let the experts from Arch Apothecary take care of your post-class hair. Stylists will be in store post-yoga class to offer complimentary hair touch-ups to attendees so you can head to brunch afterwards!
Admission/Tickets: Free, but space is limited so be sure to pre-register


Wauwatosa Kids to Parks Day | Website
When: Saturday, May 18th, 10AM-2PM
Where: Brookfield Indoor Soccer Complex
What: A national day of play that connects kids and families with their local, state, and national parks. Wauwatosa is teaming up with many local organizations to host a day of fun-filled activities in Hart Park, including a bike rodeo, wood crafting, ask an arborist, park bingo, nature walks, old school games, kickball, skateboarding, bootcamp and yoga.

Japanese Zen Garden Spring Show | Website 
When: Show will be open daily in the Show Dome until May 25
Where: Milwaukee Mitchell Park Domes
What: Relax and unwind in the serenity of Zen gardens this spring season. Take a peaceful stroll through a variety of small gardens designed to imitate the intimate essence of nature and to serve as an aid to meditation and quiet reflection. Among the carefully arranged rocks, water features and Japanese sculptures, you will find a calming collection of Japanese plants, kokedama and cherry blossom trees in bloom.
Admission/Tickets: Included with general admission to the Domes: $8 adult, $6 juniors, free for kids under 5. Milwaukee County residents get discounted entry with ID.
