Like most parents, I sit down at the beginning of every month and fill in the calendar. Sports activities, parent meetings, work commitments, get togethers and dates saved for family adventures; the calendar fills very quickly. I thought it might be fun to start a monthly reoccurring blog with our top 5 activities for kids & parents each month. These will always be activities that we’re saving the date for and looking forward to.

Ride on the Wild Side @ Milwaukee Co. Zoo | Website

They also offer three options for distance routes (10, 17 & 27-mile rides) that start at the Zoo and continue north along the Menomonee River Parkway and the Oak Leaf Trail. We always do the 10-mile ride. It’s the perfect distance for a nice morning family bike ride. After the ride, they have post-ride snacks, crafts and activity tents.

Apple Picking @ Elegant Farmer | Website
When: Saturdays & Sundays, September 8th through Oct 21st

What: Autumn Harvest Fest is one of my favorite fall traditions! Elegant Farmer offers a traditional apple-picking experience where you take a hay ride out to the orchard and fill bushels of apples. You can taste lots of yummy varieties throughout the orchard! They also have little step stools all over the orchard so the little kids can get up higher into the trees to pick. You can also ride out to the pumpkin patch and pick some pumpkins! When you’re done in the orchard and pumpkin patch, they also have pony rides and a corn maze.
Admission/Tickets: Hayride is $5 for adults and $3 for kids (under 2 is free); pumpkins range from $10-30 depending how many you pick
